A TELEVISION film crew was caught up in the latest gipsy invasion of Burnden Park.

A convoy of caravans flooded the car park of the Wanderers' former home on Friday afternoon.

The influx came on the day that it was revealed that Bolton Wanderers bosses had decided to demolish the old stadium, to prevent anymore travellers converging on the site.

But a bewildered television crew, who in recent weeks have been filming scenes in the town for a new BBC show, 'Cops', found they'd been blocked in.

It meant that they couldn't move their outside broadcast vehicles, packed with expensive film, lighting and sound equipment off the car park and on to the next filming location.

Paul Grant, location manager for film makers World Productions, admitted they were worried at first that they would be stuck on the car park. He added: "Luckily when we pointed out to them that we wanted to move they were very helpful."

Legal proceedings were put in motion on Friday by Bolton Wanderers, in conjunction with the Council, to force the travellers off the land.
