YOUNG Bolton scouts and cubs clubbed together to raise £100 to buy some "bear necessities" for the town's local ambulance service.

The aim of the youngsters, based at the Brookside Scout Hut on Ladybridge Lane, Ladybridge, was to benefit as many people as possible with the money raised.

As a result, they spent the money on finding 100 new "recruits" who will provide their own brand of comfort to any young casualties treated by the ambulance service in the town.

The children's donation of 100 teddy bears will benefit other youngsters in Bolton, travelling in ambulances to help reassure them.

Robin Mayer, from the Bolton North station, said: "The cubs are benefiting from this because they are doing something worthwhile.

"We are benefiting thanks to the donation of the teddies, and other children in the town are benefiting as a result."
