SIR: May the staff and the patients of G3 Ward, Royal Bolton Hospital express, through your letters page, our absolute disbelief, disgust and dismay, when we found our CD player and speakers stolen from the ward day room over the weekend of February 14.

How could anyone stoop so low?

The persons concerned, have deprived our patients (some of them sometimes long stay), of a little bit of light relief, to take their minds off their injuries and worries.

We hasten to add, that the CD player was a gift to the ward from a former grateful patient.

We're sure it would be distressing to them, to know that their kind and generous gift, is now in the hand of unscrupulous and selfish people, who obviously have no compassion for their fellow humans, and who only put themselves first.

If the guilty party/parties should read this, we hope that they have a conscience, and feel ashamed of their selfish and disgusting actions.

They themselves one day may be in hospital, and appreciate some music in a quiet day room, but there may not be any such facility for them because of the patients equipment being stolen.
