KEITH Latham will shuffle his pack on Sunday as he tries to come up with a winning hand.

The Leigh Centurions coach plans a shake-up for the visit of Wakefield Trinity after they slipped to a third successive league defeat last week.

One change is forced on Latham with hooker Nick Jenkins suffering from flu after being found not guilty last night of an alleged spear tackle against Hunslet Hawks.

Barry Burgess will be recalled to the right wing with on-loan Anthony Murray replacing Aussie Steve Garces at loose-forward.

Latham's biggest headache is at half-back where he will choose two from David Ingram, Jason O'Loughin, Scott Hilton, Radney Bowker and Chris Wilkinson.

But the Hilton Park boss stresses the changes are not panic measures. "Some of the players haven't yet adjusted to the pace of Division One; it's been a big step for some of them," he says.

"I want to bring in players who might be able to cope better. We've got to get to grips with the pace and intensity. I've no doubts at all that before too long we will be able to compete at this level.

"I've spoken to coaches who have been faced with the same problem in the past and they've told me it takes five or six games for the players to adjust from second division standards.

"We're well capable of winning games in this division and I'm sure that if we keep our concentrations levels up, we'll beat Wakefield."

Leigh's squad is: Donlan, Burgess, Fairclough, Hadcroft, Burrows, Ingram, O'Loughlin, Hilton, Bowker, Wilkinson, Street, Hudspith, Pucill, Costello, Nixon, Murray. Subs to be selected.

Five Leigh teenagers, Rick Bibey, Chris Dootson, Rob Jackson, Rob Parker and Sean Penkywicz, are in the English Schools' squad for next month's tour to France.
