THE Envirenergy Award 1998 is being launched by ScottishPower at the North West Energy & Environment Show in Southport on Wednesday.

The 1998 award will be presented to a small to medium sized business in the North-west which has demonstrated outstanding commitment to energy and environmental policy.

ScottishPower, parent company of Manweb, is undertaking final screening to determine the ideal candidate.

The award will be presented at the show by Dennis Morrison, regional director of the Government Office for Merseyside.

David Titterton, business marketing and sales director, ScottishPower, said: "Many local businesses go beyond standard technical and legislative requirements when developing environmental and energy efficient solutions for their business.

"We want to recognise their commitment with this prestigious award and propose to develop it into an annual event."

The show takes place at The Floral Hall, Southport, from 8.45am to 4pm and includes seminars and an exhibition. Details on 01744 743080.
