BEREAVED Farnworth parents are planning to complain to the BBC over the lack of helpline numbers following an emotional programme.

On Sunday the television station broadcast "Our Son", a programme about a family grieving over the death of their young son.

John and June Hall were among the viewers who were deeply affected by the programme.

"It is 26 years since our son, Anthony was killed on the road and after the programme we were just distraught," said Mrs Hall.

But they were horrified that there were no helpline numbers mentioned after the programme for other, perhaps recently bereaved parents, to get in touch with organisations offering support.

"We have the support of our group, 'The Compassionate Friends' but we despaired for newly bereaved parents. They were left high and dry with nothing," said Mrs Hall.

For anyone who would like to contact Compassionate Friends the national helpline is 01179 539639.

Local contacts are Wendy and Denis Pye in Bolton on 842869, Debbie Pratt in Little Hulton on 0161 281 2530 and John and June Hall in Farnworth on 707843.
