SIR: I refer to your story about secondary school allocations. The scale of the problem is much bigger than your article indicated. You quoted two rather unhappy parents. There are many, many more parents who feel the same. My daughter also attends Lostock and I estimate that about 30 children (out of a class of 35) are in the same position as Stephanie Grimes i.e we have been allocated the Deane School but it was not one of our three choices.
What has happened to parental choice, a tenet held by the current Labour and previous Conservative Government? We await with interest an explanation from the Education Department.
