A MAN suffered horrific facial injuries after being brutally beaten on a night out by a vicious gang of thugs.

The 29-year-old - who does not want to be identified - was glassed across his face before being repeatedly punched and kicked by up to 10 men.

Detectives hunting the thugs have described the incident as a "totally unprovoked gang attack".

The attack was one of two carried out by vicious thugs on Bolton's streets last weekend. A teenage victim of the second attack has issued an appeal for help in a bid to track down his attackers.

The first incident happened shortly before midnight last Friday when the victim was on a night out in Farnworth with two friends, aged 36 and 39.

Police say the three friends were drinking at the White Hart public house, Albert Road, when there was a confrontation with another group of men. A fight started and the 29-year-old man, who lives locally, was slashed across the face with a glass.

The fight continued outside the pub. Up to 10 men were then involved in the attack. They fled before police arrived.

All three victims needed hospital treatment. The 29-year-old was the most seriously injured with appalling facial injuries, a head wound and a nasty gash inside his mouth. He was treated in Blackburn Royal Infirmary before being released after 13 stitches were inserted in his injuries.

Both attackers are white, one is in his late 20s, 5ft 10ins tall, stocky build with a bald head. The second man is in his early 20s, also stocky, 5ft 8ins, with short blond hair shaved at the sides.

The victim of the second attack, 18-year-old Gareth Davis, was beaten up by a separate gang of thugs 24 hours later as he was walking home along Gilnow Road, Heaton.

He was kicked and punched to the floor and suffered a badly swollen face and black eyes.

Detectives say the attackers are Asian youths in their late teens.
