SIR: Not everyone wants to live near a toilet block. That's understandable, but then, not everyone wants to live near a pub.

Toilets have been closed because, it's said, they attract vandals and other undesirables. The same could be said about some pubs. But no-one wants to close these.

Eugene Ryan, of the Pineapple, says the loo near his pub serves no useful purpose, and should be demolished. But I agree with your Opinion (February 3), when you say these loos and others, should be re-opened and properly run.

Of course you can always pop into the nearby pub, if it's open, and of course you usually buy a drink. Well it's only manners isn't it?
