CUPID delivered something extra special to Bury goalkeeper Dean Kiely on Valentine's Day - a healthy 8lb 5oz baby boy! And, as the BEN sports team reported last night, it was all done and dusted in time for Bury's winning performance against Manchester City. Smiling Shakers star Dean said: "Everything went to plan on Saturday - both professionally and personally. It all came together really well."

Bury's only goalie faced a dilemma when doctors said fiancee Tracey Wilson was due to give birth on February 14 - the same day as the club's vital derby match at Maine Road.

And Dean, who prides himself on not having missed a game in two seasons, promised his team mates he wouldn't let them down on Saturday afternoon.

But he needn't have worried, for the couple were up at 5am for an early morning dash to Bury's Fairfield Hospital, where two-and-a-half hours later, baby Mason Dean was born.

Proud dad Dean said: "He was due to arrive on Valentine's Day and he came right on the button. We had the bag ready and everything. The worst thing would have been if Tracey had gone into labour during the match."

Despite the morning's drama, Dean managed to keep his mind on the match, saving an early header from City's Kit Symons, but as soon as the final whistle went, it was back to hospital for a different kind of celebration with Tracey and son.

And will the couple's first baby follow in his father's footsteps? "I'll take him to Bury with me - when he's a bit older," said Dean. "But he won't get pressured into anything."
