Emley 2 Leigh RMI 2

ALTHOUGH a point away from home and further progress up the UniBond Premier Division table will be regarded as more than satisfactory, Leigh RMI should have had more to show from their draw at Emley.

They trailed twice, yet each time they fell behind they levelled within three minutes, but the quality shown in fighting back should be more evident.

Emley's defence did not look comfortable when put under pressure, and when the correct service was provided for Chris Shaw and Lee Cryer, the Railwaymen looked too good for their Yorkshire hosts.

"Once again, we gave a side a lead before we started playing," said manager Steve Waywell. "But when we did get forward, we caused them problems at the back."

Leigh keeper Dave Felgate was responsible for the scoreless half time scoreline. He tipped away a full blooded drive from Jon Dysart and then pulled off a stunning save from Michael Reynolds.

Paul David gave Emley the lead in the 62nd minute with a shot though a ruck of players from the corner of the area which caught Felgate unsighted.

Shaw had the ball in the home net from Cryer's cross two minutes later, but was ruled offside, however, there was nothing wrong with Cryer's equaliser 60 seconds later.

Schofield headed down Simon Kay's free kick and Cryer volleyed past keeper Chris Marples.

Home skipper Ian Bank's left footer flew past Felgate with the help of a deflection but once again Leigh produced their battling qualities.

Brady's lob forward found a Terry Williams in an unusually advanced position and he headed over the on-rushing Marples to give RMI a point.
