DAVID Mason's proposal of marriage had a very definite romantic ring to it As when he went down on one knee to his unsuspecting girlfriend, Teresa Smedley, he had a Valentine's Day wedding in mind. The couple, who live in New Bury, met almost seven months ago through a friend and will be taking their vows at Mere Hall Register Office on the most romantic day in the calendar.

This will be the second marriage for both David, 47, and Teresa, 28, and the pair plan a reception in a local pub after the ceremony.

The following weekend they will spend a romantic weekend in London.

Teresa has two girls and a boy, aged seven, six and five years, and said: "They are all excited about the wedding. The girls will be bridesmaids on the day.

"David is very romantic and he caught me out with his proposal. He is always sending me flowers, teddies and little cards."
