RAMA workshop, run by Anne Collins, plans a special production of A Country Where There is Peace, based on the Brecht poem Children's Crusade with profits going to a children's charity in Romania.

And actress Sue Twist, probably best known for her role of Rosie Banks in Brookside is backing the project.

Sue supports Aid for Romania and is very interested in the work of Drama Workshop. She hopes to join in with some of the workshop sessions if her work permits.

This year, Drama Workshop which has been running for more than two years, will stage the project during two weeks - February half term and the second week of the Easter holidays. Additionally, there will be evening and full-day sessions.

The workshop weeks will cover improvisation around the themes within the play and approaches to script work.

As the theme is about children caught in war and refugees in need of help and support, Anne thought it seemed a suitable performance for a Romanian charity.

Drama Workshop is seeking an orphanage or charity which would benefit from a donation.

It is hoped the play will provide a focus for the young people and raise awareness of the problems of many children in Europe.

Already 16 young people are committed to this venture, but there are still some roles to be filled.

There is a fee for the two weeks because of the hire cost of the Theatre Church, Astley Bridge, where the play will be staged.

Performances will be on May 8 and 9 at the Theatre Church and there will also be a further charity performance in a local comprehensive school at a date to be arranged. There could be more performances should a suitable venue be available.

If you are between 10 and 16 years old and are interested in taking part or know of a specific need in Romania, contact Anne and Geoff Collins on 01204 400468.
