SIR: I have recently joined the Bolton Cycling Forum, which meets every two months. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas with respect to cycle provision in the Bolton area, then I will be only too glad to put them before the Forum.
From my first meeting, it was apparent that there is a Great North/South Bolton divide with respect to cycle lanes. The south of Bolton virtually has none. We need to redress the balance. From Moses Gate to the Kearsley/Clifton border there is only 300 metres of cycle lane.
There is, in the next 10 years, a real chance of changing our transport system from the log jams of cars to a system where cycles will play a major part, especially on short journeys. This can only be done by convincing everyone that there is a viable alternative.
