SCOTT Sellars today spelled out the price Wanderers will pay unless they can find a quick solution to their Premiership problems.

Admitting he was "embarrassed" by Saturday's 5-1 home defeat by Coventry, when he was captain for the day, the experienced midfielder said: "We've got to improve quickly otherwise the season's going to end very quickly.

"Confidence has dropped because we haven't been getting the results, especially at home. We've drawn too many games and now this..!

"It's frustrating because we played well in the first half and for 50 minutes I thought there was only going to be one winner. Then the wheels came off!"

Sellars drew comparisons with the 6-0 home defeat by Manchester United in February 1996 when he said: "That was the worst defeat I've suffered here but this felt very similar." Nevertheless, he has helped Wanderers bounce back from a heavy defeat once this season and says that's what they need to do again at Old Trafford on Saturday.

"We hit rock bottom when we lost 5-0 at Sheffield Wednesday and we recovered from that," Sellars recalled. "We've got to get back to basics and defend a hell of a lot better than we have been doing.

"It's not the best time to be going to Old Trafford but playing against the top teams seems to bring the best out of us."

Andy Todd, whose performances at centre-back this season have been a revelation, admitted being "badly hurt" by the Coventry defeat. But he described the derby as "a great opportunity to put it right".

"There's no better place to go," he added. "Getting a hiding like that was hard to swallow when you consider we'd lost only once at home all season.

"Now we've got to pull together, drive each other on and stay confident. After a defeat like that it's important we continue to believe in each other.

"We bounced back after the Sheffield Wednesday defeat and I don't see why we can't do it again."
