BOLTON men at the centre of storm over a gay video sex case are living in fear after a spate of attacks.

Some of the men dubbed the Bolton Seven have been targeted since their high profile conviction for indecency sparked a national campaign for a change in the law.

In the latest incident vandals painted PORN in bright orange letters across the back window of Terry Connell's car.

The attack follows two separate incidents last week when thugs smashed the window of his car which was parked outside his house.

Gay campaigners say another two men in the case have been forced to move following firebomb and vandal attacks on their homes. Three others, they say, have lost their jobs following the convictions.

After this weekend's incident Mr Connell said: "When the first window went in I thought it was a coincidence but now I feel quite intimidated.

"These people say I am a sick person but they are far sicker than me."

Neighbours supported Mr Connell but many said they were too frightened to speak out publicly.

One told the BEN: "They should leave him alone. What Terry does in his own house is his business. He's very gentle and would not hurt a fly."

National campaigner for gay group Outrage!, Peter Tatchell, said the prosecutions had created fear in the town.

He said: "Some lesbians and gay men in Bolton feel quite intimidated by this trial.

"They feel there is a witch-hunt going on and they are afraid to be identified because they are worried they could be next."

In this weekend's attack, racist graffiti was also daubed on nearby homes.
