ANTI-drugs officers handed out a stark warning to town centre revellers in a police campaign against legal but lethal designer drug GHB.
In an unprecedented move on Friday and Saturday, the drugs prevention caravan went to the heart of Bolton's hectic pub and club nightlife amid fears that tragedy could strike.
The campaign came a week after seven people collapsed in the town centre in horrifying scenes - two suffered heart attacks and two stopped breathing before paramedics came to their aid.
Bolton police drugs liaison officer Sgt Graham Ramsden and his team handed out leaflets with detailed information about the potentially fatal effects of taking the substance which is also known as GBH, liquid ecstasy and X.
GHB is a colourless, odourless liquid sold in small bottles.
The effects are totally unpredictable, ranging from feelings of increased energy to anxiety, nausea or vomiting, particularly when mixed with alcohol. This can lead to convulsions, respiratory collapse and coma.
