HORWICH town councillors have called for evening games at the Reebok stadium to be played earlier.
The councillors said noise and traffic around Wanderers' stadium was unwelcome late at night.
They are urging the club to bring matches forward - especially cup matches, which could involve extra time and make a very late departure of vehicles from residential areas.
Wanderers' matches with evening kick-offs all start 15 minutes later than other clubs in the country.
But Wanderers said the late start at 8pm was due to regulations laid down by Bolton Council aimed at creating more of a gap between rush-hour traffic and traffic going to matches.
Chief executive Des McBain said: "We would be comfortable with a slightly earlier kick off to bring us in line with other clubs.
"But if the match is on Sky, it would have to be an eight o'clock start - we wouldn't have any choice."
