SIR: It amazes me why some Bolton Wanderers supporters can't seem to understand why we, the Horwich residents, don't want BWFC on our doorstep.
It seems like the people of Horwich have been badly represented by the councillors, who don't really care what the man in the street really wants for his town.
I dare say many Horwich folk aren't even interested in football and, over the years, there wasn't a ground nearby. Unlike residents in the Burnden Park vicinity, who knew the ground was there before buying a house.
Apart from this, over the years, hundreds of people in Horwich have regularly attended matches at Man Utd, Liverpool, Blackburn, Everton, Wigan and other clubs, as well as Bolton.
It does seem like Bolton have gained a few more fans recently, due to their great improvement over the last four years or so. Glory hunters we call them.
I'll close with this question - would the BWFC fans from Farnworth or Kearsley want one of the Manchester clubs on their doorstep? Enough said!
Mrs S Smith,
Crown Lane, Horwich.
