SIR: I read with interest the article written by Mark Longbottom in the BEN.
I am another furious Wanderers fan who returned to his car to find a fixed parking fine issued. I would not care so much, but I park away from the main resident areas because of all the recent complaints, and thought that, like many others, I was acting as a responsible person.
The police have put hundreds of signs up off Chorley New Road and I have no sympathy with anyone parking in those zones, because they have had their warning.
Supt. Sandra Lee and her force have reacted in a completely 'over the top' approach when a warning sign put up at the side of Chorley Road (A6), or a quick word from one of the hundreds of police around the stadium, would have been sufficient.
Think again Supt Sandra Lee, because law-abiding citizens want to carry on supporting our police force - and this just alienates us.
