A SPICE Girls competition takes place on Friday at Bolton Cricket Club, Green Lane, with all proceeds being donated to the Nicola, Robert and Keith Memorial Fund.

More than £4,000 has already poured into the memorial fund which was set up after the tragic deaths of three children from St James's School, Farnworth in July this year.

Nichola Moore, aged 16, Keith Riddings, 14, and Robert Boardman, also 14, were killed when the coach they were travelling in plunged 60 feet down a ravine in the French Alps during a school trip.

The contest on Friday will feature a number of wannabee lookalike, soundalike girl groups including the Spice Babes from St James's School. The girls - Sarah Palmer, Claire Horrocks, Nicola Markland and Claire Magnall - have already made their own contribution to the memorial fund by raising £70 by selling pictures of themselves to pupils at St Maxentius primary school in Bradshaw.

The camera films for the fundraising idea were donated by Safeway in Harwood and Boots in the town centre developed the pictures free of charge.

Anyone who would like to support the event, which kicks off at 7.30pm, at Bolton Cricket Club is welcome.

And on Friday, October 10 a fundraising cabaret takes place at Dixon Green Labour Club. All proceeds are being donated to the Memorial Fund.
