SIR: I am puzzled regarding a decision by the planning councillors to refuse the owners of Watermillock permission to build a hotel in its grounds, claiming it would spoil the view down to the Eagley Valley.

Could they please explain then how the steel tube works got their permission to actually ruin the Eagley Valley? Which, incidentally, has almost doubled its blot on the landscape over the past 12 months.

I feel that it is a disgusting afront to a company who did a splendid job in restoration of this fine building. But for them Watermillock would probably have become derelict.

Disgusted,

Hall i'th Wood,

Bolton.
