A PUB landlord in Tyldesley has warned the public to be alert after two women were followed home by masked men.

Earl Law of The Railway pub in Wareing Street has urged people to be on their guard.

In the first incident, a woman was followed home and attacked after a ladies' darts match at the pub.

In the second case on Wednesday night, one of Mr Law's bar staff was followed home.

He said: "Fortunately neither of them was hurt but obviously they're both shaken up.

"I don't want to create panic but I do think people need to be aware."

The woman who was attacked was walking in the direction of Hindsford when she noticed a man in a balaclava following her.

He pounced on her but the woman managed to fight him off.

The barmaid in the second incident was not attacked as she walked home to the Shacklady Estate.

Mr Law said: "Fortunately she was nearly home and ran into a neighbour's garden. The man, who was wearing tights over his head, got scared when lights went on in the house and ran off."

He added: "We don't know if these incidents are connected or not. The police have been told in both cases. I just want people to be on guard to stop anything more serious happening."
