ENERGi, the new national energy brand launched by Norweb, is set to become one of the first members of the newly created Association of Energy Suppliers (AES).
The association is a body of gas and electricity suppliers which aims to protect consumers through the promotion of good practice in the marketing of energy products and services.
The association has developed a code of practice for marketing which will provide self-regulation in a competitive market.
The intention is to protect consumers from unethical marketing practices by suppliers, although the code will not be legally binding.
John Beckitt, managing director for Norweb/ENERGi, said joining the association would result in positive benefits for consumers.
"Competition provides benefits for the customer and the Association's code will help reinforce these benefits," he said.
