SUMMER signings Robbie Elliott and Neil Cox will be on show among £10 million worth of talent as Wanderers start their warm-up for Premiership action at Crewe tonight.

But Colin Todd was waiting today for the green light to include latest recruit Arnar Gunnlaugsson in the Gresty Road workout.

The Bolton boss made a successful £100,000 swoop to beat opposition from Sweden and Norway for the Icelandic international last week but the player's registration papers have still to come through from his previous club, FC Akranes.

Otherwise, Wanderers expect to have their entire senior squad available for the first of six pre-season friendlies arranged to prepare them for the August 9 kick off at Southampton. Newly-promoted and with record signings to enhance last season's First Division Championship-winning outfit, their multi-million line-up will offer a stark contrast to Dario Gradi's Crewe, who start without three key members of the squad which clinched promotion from Division Two via the play-offs.

Danny Murphy's £3 million transfer to Liverpool was finally completed yesterday, Rob Savage is on his way to Leicester and Gareth Whalley is on a two-week trial with Spurs.

Now Seth Johnson, Steve Antrobus, Fran Tierney and Peter Smith have a chance to become the next generation of graduates from Gradi's incredible soccer academy.

However, all eyes tonight will be on Wanderers' two new full-backs - Cox, the £1.5 million capture from Middlesbrough, on the right and Elliott on the left in his first appearance following his £2.5 million record transfer from Newcastle.

Todd sees the game as merely a loosener.

"It's fitness we are looking for more than anything," he explained.

"The balance and shape should be okay because we know from Day One that we'll be playing 4-4-2 and everyone knows their jobs.

"But I'll be aiming to give a game to as many players as possible - although the squad is so large that it's impossible to give everyone a runout."
