THE battle over a desired image for the Manchester city region - which includes Bolton - continued with a breakfast meeting today.

Young business and culture leaders in the city have formed The McEnroe Group to protest about Marketing Manchester's "We're Up and Going" slogan which has been heavily promoted in the area.

Today the Group unveiled its own designs based on the message "Revolutions Made in Manchester".

It features a "Made in Manchester" logo and draws on the city's international significance as the birthplace of the industrial revolution and the place where the world's first computer was invented.

The logo has a ten-pointed asterisk to reflect the 10 boroughs which make up Greater Manchester. Group leaders today discussed the new ideas with Marketing Manchester leaders, including chairman Sir David Trippier. He said: "Marketing Manchester and the McEnroe Group are in absolute agreement about what we want for the city. We must now harness this energy and enthusiasm positively."
