DETECTIVES are investigating a blaze at a house in Westhoughton last night.
Two small fires were started in the semi-detached council house on Ryehill, Westhoughton, shortly before 9pm.
One blaze was in the living room of the house, and a second was discovered by firemen wearing breathing apparatus in the back bedroom.
The occupier of the house told firemen he had returned to discover the fires and had tried to put them out. In doing so he suffered slight smoke inhalation but refused hospital treatment.
Damage was caused to a pile of clothes and a dining table and chairs. The remainder of the house was damaged by smoke.
