A WORKMAN was flung upside down in his cab when the giant excavator he was operating toppled over on a steep muddy bank.
The 59-year-old man had been operating the digger at the site of building work being carried out at Joseph Eastham High School, Little Hulton.
The accident happened at 3.30pm yesterday when the workman tried to turn the vehicle around on the slippery slope. It toppled over and rolled on its roof, flinging him from his seat on to the roof of the cab.
Workmates dragged him free and paramedics treated the man, who lives in Stockport, at the scene for cuts to his head and neck injuries.
A fire crew was also called to help make the JCB secure and lift the man onto a spinal board. He is being treated in the Royal Bolton Hospital.
