SIR: I can't believe it. Bolton Council are making savage cuts in essential services, charging for new wheelie bins, closing much needed toilets, the community charge is rocketing every year, and they are now thinking of spending £250,000 to celebrate the millennium, plus a £22,000 salary for someone to organise it.
Let's face it, we haven't the money, and it is out of our league. Be realistic for a change, the citizens of Bolton and surrounding areas, contrary to council belief, have not got a bottomless purse and we all know the old saying 'there's nothing easier than spending someone else's money is there?
I wonder are we trying to outdo London, and are letting our minds run riot.
