THE first team through to the semi-finals of the Cecil Cup was Markland Hill's 'B' team who put up a strong performance to beat First Division Longsight 'A' 91 - 52, proving they did not need the handicap of 30 games.

Hawkshaw 'B' also had a fairly comfortable win over last year's winners Markland Hill 'A'. Making good use of a +38 handicap they ran out 79 - 60 winners with Ian Kay winning all three of his sets.

Meadow Hill 'C's excellent cup run came to an end at Eagley where Eagley 'A' took all 12 sets to make light of Meadow Hill's +45 handicap.

The closest of the quarter-finals was at Walmer where the home club's 'B' team had a +54 advantage over Meadow Hill 'A'. Meadow Hill's nerve held and they ran out 71 games to 68 winners.

The semi-finals take place on Sunday, July 27th at 2pm. The line-up is: Hawkshaw 'B' v Eagley 'A' and Meadow Hill 'A' v Markland Hill 'B'.
