POLICE are hunting for a hit and run driver after a 77-year-old man was mown down and killed in Bury. Cyril White, of Burswood Avenue, Bury, suffered a broken leg and internal injuries in the collision yesterday afternoon.
Mr White was crossing Walmersley Road near the junction with Eldon Street at 2.15pm.
A silver Toyota Corolla collided with him and the driver sped off without stopping.
The car, which had Moorside Taxis on the side, was found abandoned a short distance away. It had been earlier reported stolen from Bolton.
The driver has been described as an Asian man aged 20-30, 6ft and was wearing a black and white top.
