SIR: I refer to the letter headed: Route out of traffic agony, by Jim Alker (BEN, July 7).
Might I suggest Mr Alker takes a 500 yard walk to the Lyons Industrial Estate (at Kearsley) and looks very carefully at the Railway Bridges at the rear of the Industrial Estate.
Maybe I had miscounted the bridges - so I have been back to re-count them - one, two - there are definitely still TWO they have not been moved. These are the bridges at the cost of around £1m not £100,000 for a cycle track to nowhere.
I still cannot understand what benefits Pilkington Road will gain from this Industrial Estate at the rear, instead of having traffic on the front of their houses. It will be more than double on the backs - only Springfield Road would benefit from it and why does Mr Alker want more industrial estates? There must be a reason behind it.
