BT has announced that it has landed the contract to keep Bolton's new Reebok Stadium in touch with the world.

The company beat off strong competition to provide the complete telecommunications system at the new £30m Premiership home of the promoted Wanderers.

BT engineers are now working there to complete the installation in time for the first home game in September.

The company is providing everything from the public payphones and office fax lines through to the very latest ISDN lines capable of transmitting either voice, computer information, faxes and photographs.

The press box will be fully-equipped with ISDN lines allowing radio journalists to broadcast live from the stadium with studio quality sound and sports photographers to send their pictures back to their newspapers at the touch of a button.

Also, the whole stadium will be served with the latest fibre optic cables allowing television crews to transmit live pictures without the need to use satellite technology.

The communication system has been specially designed for the Reebok Stadium and technology has been individually-tailored to suit the needs of both Bolton Wanderers and the stadium's impressive conference facilities.

Wanderers' Chief Executive Des McBain said: "After looking at various communication systems we were more than happy to put our trust in BT.

"What they are installing for us at the Reebok Stadium is the most up-to-date, state-of-the-art system and one that befits a £30m stadium."
