REDUNDANCIES have been announced at Eurodis HB Electronics in Bolton.

The Lever Street business is to shed 13 jobs in operations and administration - 10 of them in Bolton.

It follows a re-structuring of the Eurodis Electron Group's UK operation, which also involves Eurodis Bytech in Basingstoke.

Originally known as Hird-Brown Electronics, HB started life in 1962 as a part of the locally-known Hird-Brown company.

After various changes it became part of the Eurodis Electron Group in 1995.

It is a leading European distributor of electronic components for the high technology industrial manufacturing sector.

But the oversupply in the chip market has had a knock-on effect on other electronic components and Eurodis Electron has issued warnings that results for the year to May 31 will be below forecasts.

Last summer Eurodis HB Electronics, which now employs 166 people, held a special gala dinner in the Town Hall to celebrate a £2 million extension scheme.
