to perform The cast of With a Song In Their Hearts With A Song In Their Hearts

Nohow Productions

Smithills Great Hall

Runs until Saturday THIS skilful tribute to Rodgers and Hart devised by Marjorie Hough and Peter Ward is given star treatment by producer/director Nora Howcroft.

Peter Ward's narrative read with style by Ernest Dawson and Robin Thompson captures the essence of the two musicians who though unalike in temperament and lifestyles wrote wonderful songs together.

The production is considerably enhanced by the excellent accompaniment of J Arnold Thornton.

Excellent ensemble work by the singers did full justice to such songs as Mountain Greenery, I Wish I Were In Love Again , Funny Valentine and, of course, With A Song In My Heart.

Among the superb solo performances, my particular favourites were Lady Is A Tramp (Robert Margolis), Ten Cents A Dance (Nora Howcroft), Where or When (Bill Sharples), You Are Too Beautiful (Brian Williams), Have You Met Miss Jones (Chris Oldham), Little Girl Blue (Judith Stamford), I Could Write A Book (Marian Henrys), Bewitched (Connie Rorrison) and Spring Is Here (Marjorie Hough).

Shirley Ann Hill's dancing kept up the high standards set by the talented singers.

The set and costumes were as classy as the rest of the productions.

Nohow may be a small group but the consistently high standards they maintain put them on a par which the best of Bolton's amateur societies.
