SIR: In part we must agree with S R Morgan whose letter was headed "Fairer world". There is corruption in the Third World. So are we to assume that there is none in the Western World! Shall we begin by looking at our own country!

That was a bold statement indeed to say the Third World people are not far removed from savages, when our media are daily reporting every type of evil that is possible to imagine ie the rape and killing of defenceless old ladies, muggings, robberies etc. Need we look beyond our own kind for any further proof of savagery!

Perhaps one of the first signs of being anywhere near civilised would be when we and the rest of the world stop taking advantage of people less well off than ourselves and try to be of some use. Then who knows in years to come maybe these savages will reach the perfection S R Morgan obviously feels he or she has already attained.

We are not just thinking of the Third World in this statement, we also have our own poor and under privileged in our own country.
