SIR: I refer to Singing Clough Development

Might I suggest Bolton Council should look towards improving existing roads, buildings and pavements in this area as they are all tired and worn out, i.e. raising grids and manholes to suit the level of the roads, not lowering the tarmac to suit the manhole grids and services.

They should make sure jobs are done correctly and under proper supervision (with guarantees), so that they don't sink next day with traffic weight and there should be proper re-surfacing of existing cable trenches which are a nightmare for motorcycles and push bikes.

Lots of improvement are needed around Blackhorse/Longcauseway areas - derelict buildings, scrap yards, walls which have been down for years, maintenance of roads in the Stoneclough and Prestolee areas.

These areas are focal features and would enhance the approach to Farnworth and Kearsley. This is the work we should be concentrating on to bring it on a par with Bolton town centre.

Farnworth and Kearsley are towns/villages and shopping centres not empty industrial estates and commercial car parks.
