SIR: Facts about Germany (1993) describes their lead in developing the (now) European Union since 1952.
Chancellor Khol says that - "German unity and European Union are two sides of one and the same coin" whose aim is to complete Europe's integration by 2,000AD, then merge with Central, East and S E Europe! He seeks peaceful global power and influence.
We know, or ought to, that Parliament is now a puppet of the EU, which already controls Britain's laws and economy. However, the final phase of the Treaty of the EU of February 7 1993 (in part) will be when a 'common currency' (ie single currency) has been agreed. Then integration becomes complete and irreversible!
The same Treaty turns the EU into a 'political union'; involves us in treaties on foreign policies, gives wider powers for Euro Parliament, and the inclusion of domestic affairs and justice.
Thus, foreign affairs and security policies call for an already proposed Euro Corps, 40,000 strong, which means our armed forces can be on call.
Domestic Affairs can mean our national security - benefits in general; our coastguards and customs. While justice already comes from Brussels!
Sir James Goldsmith's demand now for a Referendum (common in German states) to decide yes or no - freedom or subjection - to the EU is vital for our people to decide at Election time!
