HEARTLESS thieves have left a toddler in tears after stealing his cherished toy car.

Little 17-month-old Jordan Rigby cannot understand where his favourite plaything has gone, following the theft from his garden.

Mum Carol Rigby, of Weldbank Lane, Chorley, described the sneak raid as "absolutely disgusting."

She and her husband Stephen saved up for the £45 Christmas present which Jordan was just getting used to.

But Stephen was made redundant from his foreman's job at a mechanic's in Blackburn a month ago and the family now needs every penny.

"It's a case of trying to save up for another. But a pound here, a pound there? It's going to be hard," said Carol.

The Rigbys have reported the theft of the black and red Fisher Price toy to Chorley Police.

Carol added: "He got it at Christmas, but while it has been nice he's been out in it and had just started pushing himself along.

"We went round Toys-R-Us and put him in different ones. He wanted this one. He loved it."

Carol and Stephen, who have two other children Scott, eight, and Dean, six, visited local pawnshops in the hope the car had been quickly sold on, but did not find it.
