CUMBRIAN brewers Jennings Brothers are planning to buy five more pubs in the North-west. The Cockermouth company now owns 112 pubs in the region, including some outside its traditional Cumbrian base.
Recent acquisitions include the Bull Inn at Broughton, near Skipton and The Devonshire Arms at Cracoe in the Yorkshire Dales. Jennings Brothers also own the Red Lion at Hawkshaw, Bury.
The company has produced record pre-tax profits for eight consecutive years. Chairman Tom Bushby said: "All the properties purchased over the past few years have been trading extremely well with the contribution from food and accommodation taking an increasing share of turnover and profitability."
