THIRTY jobs are to go at BICC Industrial Cables in Leigh. Workers were told today that the decision followed a strategic review of the firm's business, which is struggling in a recession against strong worldwide competition.
A spokesman said: "As a result the financial returns on industrial cables operations are inadequate."
BICC Industrial Cables, which employs 276 people in all, says it hopes to make the reduction across all employee groups through voluntary redundancy and redeployment within BICC Cables.
The spokesman said other actions would also be taken to improve the efficiency of the business.
