SIR: It was very gratifying to see recently in the BEN the very full report on the celebration held by Bolton's Rotary Clubs for the life of Paul Harris and, in particular, the special mention you made of the Life Education Unit.
This new and, as yet, little known project, supported by all the Rotary Clubs in the Bolton area, takes staffed mobile classrooms round all the primary schools to educate young minds on the importance of their bodies and the dangers of drug abuse. It requires all the publicity and funding it can get.
The Rotary Club of Turton is making another big effort to raise funds for this worthy cause in April this year. The President of the Club, Ivor Samuel, and his wife, Mair, who is President of the Inner Wheel Club, were both born in S. Wales and the Club is bringing the choir from their home town of Maesteg to Bolton.
The Maesteg and District Male Voice Choir, with special soloists, will be performing at the Victoria Hall on Saturday April 26. Sponsorship has already been promised to cover the costs of bringing and housing one of the great concert choirs of Wales here, which means that any profits made on the night will, almost entirely, go to funding Life Education. All that is required is a 'full house' to support the Mayor, President Ivor and President Mair on April 26. We request concert-goers to make a note of the date now.
