THE Bolton girlfriend of a young man punched and kicked to death outside a Wigan night club has hit out at the five-year jail sentences handed out to his killers.

Janice Booth, who was heavily pregnant at the time of Tommy Robert's death, branded the sentences "disgusting".

The young cable layer died after the unprovoked attack outside The Playhouse nightclub in Wigan while looking for stragglers from a stag party.

Three men, who chose not to give evidence, were found guilty of manslaughter after a case at Manchester Crown Court. While waiting for them to be sentenced Janice said: "Whatever they get will not be enough, it should be a life for a life."

She was stunned when Judge Rhys Davies jailed the men, who all had previous convictions for causing trouble in Wigan and other town centres, for five years on Friday.

Janice, of Aldercroft Avenue, Breightmet, said: "It is absolutely disgusting.

"It makes me so angry. They have already done half on remand and they will be out in no time at all. "Basically they will do a few more months in a holiday camp and be out in in time for the Christmas after next.

"They are still able to see their families but I will have to spend the rest of my life without Tom, and Taylor has never even seen her daddy.

"I just find it unbelievable. What this is saying is that you can go out for a night out and do anything to anybody.

"Tom was a quiet young man who had never been in trouble with the police but these men already had convictions when they did this. "I've always believed in hanging and still do. They should at least have got 10 years running from the court date."

Adrian Boylan, Michael Daniels and Charles Middleton, all of Wigan, had all pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and violent disorder but had been found guilty by a jury.
