BATTLE-HUNGRY Bury are ready to slay one of the Second Division's sleeping giants at Gigg Lane tomorrow.

The unbeaten Shakers prepare for the arrival of Bristol City with their sights set on establishing themselves in pole position.

And they are in the mood to prove that a good big 'un doesn't always necessarily beat a good little 'un.

Gigg manager Stan Ternent insisted today: "They are a big club in comparison to us but it is not the size of the dog that matters but the bite that's in it.

"It's going to be a hard game for us but they've all been hard so far."

Two away wins and a home draw have given Bury a share of top spot in Division Two but Ternent insists: "It's just a start, that's all. The players are up for it but nobody's getting carried away."

Already without key defender Chris Lucketti and skipper David Pugh, the Shakers also have doubts over the fitness of Ronnie Jepson, who picked up a thigh problem after netting the only goal of Tuesday's win at Wycombe, and Gordon Armstrong, who has an ankle injury.

Boss Ternent is prepared to wait until tomorrow before finalising his line-up.
