BOLTON people can launch a new career with a training and jobs festival on Wednesday. It is being hosted by the employment opportunities agency the Quest Centre in conjunction with Bolton City Challenge and is aimed at adults rather than school leavers. The festival is open to both the unemployed and those in work seeking a change of direction.

Visitors will be able to discuss job options with local companies, trainers, colleges and career advisors. There will be advice on how best to approach employers and how to present themselves.

Visitors will also be able to take advantage of the latest technology, whether it's finding the perfect career match through a computer "dating " programme or surfing the Internet.

"We have got together local employers and experts in careers advice under one roof to give Bolton people practical help in deciding their working future. It is really an opportunity not to be missed," said Trish Barlett, manager of the Quest Centre in Brownlow Way, Halliwell.

The festival, from 3-7pm, will be opened by a Bolton Wanderers player and there will be a playbus where parents can leave their children in supervised care. There will also be a raffle with Wanderers match tickets among the prizes.

"This is a marvellous opportunity for people to get free help and advice. It is part of our continued policy to offer practical support to the people of Bolton," said Cllr Bob Howarth, chairman of Bolton City Challenge.
