VERA Duckworth is leaving the Rovers Return for one night to come to Chorley to launch the town's Christmas festivities.
Vera, played by actress Liz Dawn, tops a bill of Christmas entertainment currently being drawn up by Market Walk bosses.
Provisional plans are that Liz will switch on the town's festive lights at a ceremony to be held on November 19 at around 6pm-6.30pm. It is then hoped she will meet staff in the centre's shops who will be opening late in the run-up to Christmas.
Her appearance is the latest in a string of celebrity Christmas switch-ons which have included pop duo Gemini, Bad Boys Inc. and Linda Nolan.
Another idea being considered at the moment is arranging for staff to have their faces painted in the colours of the shop they work for!
