IT'S "business as usual" for a firm left reeling by an arson attack on their premises. The entire office and its computer equipment were destroyed at Astra Windows, in Century Mill on George Street, Farnworth, by vandals who set fire to the basement below.

A police patrol car spotting the fire before it took hold of the rest of the building.

Staff later rallied round, sacrificing their Bank Holiday Monday, and, thanks to their efforts, the doors opened again yesterday. Managing director, David Jackson, said: "The staff really responded well. Not many people would have been too willing to come in on a Bank Holiday Monday.

"Thanks to their efforts operations have not been affected and it is a case of business as usual."

Police are investigating the fire, and Mr Jackson slammed the arsonists saying: "They put a lot of people's jobs in jeopardy. If the police patrol car had not spotted the fire it could have been much, much worse."
