SIR: I have just read the article about the dumping of a child in care and I commend Mr Alan Yates of Hooton Street, Bolton, for bringing it to the attention of Lancashire's Youth Services. Well done, sir!
Bullying is dreadful for anyone, but especially for a child "in care" who has no-one to turn to for help and advice. Indeed I felt so sickened that a child sat without a meal! Whatever was the restaurant doing, not to ask why? For obviously the child does not sit aloof for nothing. This surely was a case for intervening.
The police do not appear very interested when they say - "the child made no complaint". Of course he didn't; he knew of repercussions that usually occur.
I also feel the remark - "we are looking into it" is not enough . They should act swiftly, for a child in fear is a sickening sight.
Concerned, Bolton
