AS many musicians know the Victoria Hall, Knowsley Street, is a marvellous place to make music.

Ian Mitson who is promoting his first concert at the Hall on Saturday, September 14, wants even more people to recognise that the magnificent hall, with its excellent acoustics, has earned its place in Bolton as a centre for good entertainment.

The concert, which starts at 7.30 pm, also hopes to promote two bands the Wingates and Marple Champion Brass Bands who will be providing A Night of Nostalgia featuring music from The Arcadians, My Fair Lady, The Student Prince, Showboat and West Side Story plus the Finale of the 1812 Overture. The evening will also commemorate Mr Charles Southern's 40 years with Wingates Band.

Tickets are available from Ian at the Victoria Hall on 01204 522569, Bolton Town Hall, Booths Music and Hunts, Market Street, Westhoughton.

Ian said: "The hall is there for many people to use."
