JOHN Nuttall and Ian Wainman, the British Aero double act that bowled out Clifton for 35 last week, produced more magic yesterday.

The pair dismissed Standish for a mere 57, pro Nuttall taking seven wickets for 26 runs and Wainman claiming three for 16.

That left Aero the simplest of tasks as they reached 61-2, and the side now looks realistic challengers for the title with Nuttall very hot property indeed.

Astley and Tyldesley produced the shock of the day beating Little Hulton by six wickets.

And they did it in style overhauling the home side's 162-9 to win with 14 overs to spare.

Architect of the win was pro Charles Dagnall, who took 6-54 before hitting 73 along with Ian Robinson's 65 in the winning reply.

Clifton, however, confirmed their place at the top of the table with an eight wicket win over Spring View.

David Halliwell had 5-47 and Tony Potter 5-25 as View were shot out for 111,

Clifton's reply was interrupted by the occasional showers but 46 from Mark Price and Brian Taylor's unbeaten 36 not out saw them home with time to spare.

Daisy Hill's talented young batsman John Hopkins hit 106 out of a total of 193-5 - but it wasn't enough to prevent his side going down to defeat.

Atherton responded with 195-2, pro Andy Hall unbeaten on 85 and Jonathan Fearick 69.

David Farrar's 75 gave Blackrod the best of a draw in their game at Elton. Blackrod totalled 176-9, Darron Foy 5-47 with Elton 121-8 in reply, Terry Southworth and Andy Ingham each took three wickets.

Paul Killey hit a solid 84 as Adlington gained a draw in a rain affected match at Darcy Lever. Adlington's 153-8 was overshadowed, however by the home side's 194-7, Noel Nicklin hitting a superb 91 and skipper Richard Sutcliffe adding 64.
